Hey all --
I have a stuffy/runny nose and a mild cold...what are people's thoughts on hitting the pool?
I've swum with bronchittis before, but I wouldn't recommend following my advice.
As long as you feel ok - have enough energy to get in a quality workout - go for it. But if you don't, rest. This is the off season. If you push yourself too hard, you could end up sicker.
Drink lots of fluids, tea - water, take Mucinex D to clear your head, see a DR if you feel worse.
Just watch for the inevitable trail of snot that will emanate from your nose when you take breaks at the wall. Don't want to gross out your lanemates too much.

I've heard swimmers say the chlorine helps ward off an incipient illness. Is that true or a myth?
I haven't been in the pool in a month...and I have bronchitis.
Ed, you might be on to something.
I am not naming names. But there is a member if the club who thinks the best thing for a cold is a swim. And that a pool is the best neti pot.
Stay home! Get on trainer (at home, by yourself) if you need to move but sharing your cold is not nice :-(
Thanks for the input all -- I decided to hold off until I wasn't a total faucet out of respect to my fellow swimmers.
I just hate when my stupid immune system doesn't cooperate with my training schedule!
