It's that time of year again where we begin to accumulate the holiday pounds. Good thing indoor training sessions will be starting again in Jan and lasting thru the first or second week or March depending on the weather. Last year we had a good thread which explained the general concepts:
We'll once again be hosted by Conte's (Fresh Bikes) in Arlington thanks to J-WAL and Clovis agreeing to open the shop early. However, there are some other details that still need to be worked out. Here is a link to a google document to gauge interest as well as develop a better feel for those who would be attending and whether we need to break the sessions up a bit more to provide more individualized training sessions:
If you are interested, please complete the required fields and let me know if you have questions. I think we can also work out some details on ordering breakfast from Bruggers for when we are finished and avoiding some of the lines and overburdening their folks.
Definitely interested in doing this again. I can't seem to be able to type in the Google Doc. Do you need to click something to allow general users to input data? Not sure what my issue is, but wanted to check if it is something from your end.
See if that works...sorry!
Do you provide spin bikes? or do we bring our own bikes and trainers? Sorry for this basic question.
If I filled out the spreadsheet correctly, I am signed up as #22. Let me know if there is an issue,
Sorry should have clarified this a bit more. The weekend sessions will be held on your own bike and your own trainer (therefore note you'll also need a trainer). You can borrow from a friend or Conte's usually offers some discounts before the sessions start.
The Weds class would be held in a smaller boutique indoor cycling gym on spin bikes, therefore all you will need is your legs...the bikes are adjustable via the seat post, handlebar and seat locations and are equipped with clips.
Ron - Thanks for taking the time to set this up again this year!
Ron, I was just thinking about this the other day. Thanks for organizing and running it again this year!
Just wanted to get on the thread so I get the automated emails. Ready to go when this starts back up.
Does the club hold any classes with shops in DC? Or can borrow trainers from Contes if we live in DC without a car? Thanks.
I don't believe there are any DC Tri specific classes in DC. However, there are a number of gyms in the area that offer computrainer sessions. Those typically run around $18-20 at places like Cyclelife and Spokes in Alexandria.
Conte's does not let people borrow trainers as far as I am aware, but you can certainly ask them if they would have one available. Its likely that someone else lives in DC and is driving over, and we all know the buddy workout system works best...I should have added on the spreadsheet where people are coming from and whether they can offer rides...I'll go update that now...
If you already signed up, please go ahead and update your information when you have a second...thx!
Same as Brad, subscribing.
FYI, I'll be hosting a FREE indoor cycling class this Saturday @8AM at Revolve cycle in Clarendon (Filmore St at the Zozo Flats building a block off Wilson). New boutique cycling studio that is opening for friends and family this weekend before the official opening. If you are interested in attending please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Note this is on spin bikes (equipped with cleats) so you don't need to supply anything, just your legs and energy. We have 40 bikes so should be plenty of room for those not running the Hot Choc runs. Come on out and say hello!
Subscribing. Thanks Ron!
Subscribing - looking forward to it!
Was looking around the site and I couldn't quite find the answer. Is anything like this offered at the Bethesda Conte's/Freshbikes location?
Conte's Bethesda offers computrainer sessions, however, they're smaller than this group. No less effective however if thats closer and you can't make these sessions. Not sure how quickly they book up so you may want to call ahead now and try to reserve a spot within your given time period. I believe the cost is around $10-15 per session as well.
