Cycling Buddy in Arlington Wanted!
POSTED: 7/19/10 11:34 AM

Hello!

I really want to get into triathlons and I am signed up for three. I have done two sprints. I am terrified of my bike and need experience on it. I am dying for a cycling buddy in Arlington to just help me get some miles on the bike and to make me feel more comfortable.

Anybody live in Arlington? I will go wherever you want to go! I want to gain confidence on this thing!

You might tri out the Pensive Pedalers group, just to build confidence:

Also, perhaps sign up for the August training tri, which will be posted on this site, that features race-like loops around Hains Pt.

Further, at the Tuesday hill rides from Conte's Ballston, you might check out the C or B group rides:

And, tho somewhat advanced, there is a biking skills clinic at Hains this Wed where you might meet other local riders:

Katelynn:

Another idea is to ride down at Haines Point. Its very flat and there are lots of cyclists out so its easy to find someone to match your speed.

Hi Katelynn,
I too am scared of my road bike. I just started and don't yet have the confidence to go on group rides with all the studly, seasoned triathletes/cyclists. Now, I know that riding with experienced riders is the only way to really improve. But for right now I think I need to learn how to not fall over while clipped to my bike.

It'd be great to have company of a fellow newbie as I learn to not be such a spazz on the bike. I live on the Hill, right near 395 (so Arlington's not too far at all!)

I too am a beginner cyclist in need of riding companions. I also live on the Hill, close to 395, and can meet up wherever. The Custis trail in Rosslyn, which continues deep into VA is always a good ride.
