I just went to the Race Section to add my name to the list for Mid-Atlantic Club Championships. You know, the most important race of the year for this club... and the race that DC Triclub has dominated for 7 of the last 8 years!
When I got there, I found that only one person has registerred for the event. Props to Dena Richardson! But surely Dena cannot carry the mighty burden of defending our title on her shoulders all alone! We must help her out! So, if you're planning to race in Club Regionals, make your intentions known to the world via the Race Section! And if you're not planning to race, you should seriously reconsider joining us! Race day is Sat, June 8 in Jamestown, VA.
Union is Strength!
Sucks that is on eagleman weekend, good luck though.
I am racing Eagleman that weekend as well. Too bad as the Club Championship is a fun event!
I think Maureen Williams is signed up too.
I've signed up for a relay. (I need a runner, and hope to get Luke to do it after he finishes his full tri early. :) )
And planning for the training weekend there before the race is proceeding.
Luke, I like it!!!
All, if you're not racing Eagleman, plan on the Club Championships on June 8th. We get points for participation, and it's fun to compete as a team!
And don't forget that you get a discount, which is almost as good as saving money!!
PS Camping/Training forum is here!.
There's some talk about a post-race trip to Busch Gardens! I can see it now...
Q: "You've just won the Mid-Atlantic Club Regional... what are you going to do now? Go to Disney World!?"
A: "Nope... we're going to Busch Gardens!"
Seriously tho, let's get a crowd registerred, go dominate this race just like we always do, and then go celebrate our 8th title in 9 years at Busch Gardens!
I'm inspired. I'm in.
I'm planning on staying at Kingsmill. They have a nice Marina bar on the water and a small beach if you are bringing the kiddos. I will bring my paddle board:)

I am confused, according to the USAT site the Mid-Atlantic club Championship is the New Jersey Triathlon on July 21. http://www.usatriathlon.org/events/regional-championships.aspx Is that correct? Has anyone raced the New Jersey Triathlon before? It's not even on the club race list to RSVP for. Anyone know what's going on with this?
Nevermind, I guess there are two types of mid-atlantic championships.
Jamestown is the mid-atlantic club championship race.
You wrote club in your post but I don't see that on the usat link you provided.
Looks like NJ is the individual mid-atlantic championship race.
Comapred to 2012, Smallwood was the club championship race and Nations was the (individual) mid-atlantic championship race. The latter qualifies the top 33% to age-group nationals.
Jamestown will have individual awards, but the real champion is the club that does the best.
Hope this adds clarity.
Bummer the Mid-Atlantic individual qualifier isn't Nations!! I guess I have to find a different way to get to Milwaukee in 2014. :)
Where do you look to see what kind of time you need to qualify?
Here are the qualification rules. It's not about time, as times can vary greatly from course to course. It's about placing:
Rock Hall International is also a special qualifier for the Nationals:
