Anyone interested in swimming this Saturday morning at Sandy Point? I emailed Denis (listed on the OWS info on the home page) but never heard back from him. Hoping to get in the open water before Columbia.

Is this still on given the impending thunderstorms?

Also, stupid question:
How do you calculate how far you've swum when it's OW and not on a course?

Xena,

The distance is not a question when you are open water swimming. We just swam for time. Like 20-30 min swim.

Zina,

Because I care about kittens ...
http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2776882

There is a depth pole where I marked the the starting point on the map. If you start parallel to that then you are at the right starting point. The ending point is the divide between where fishing is allowed and swimming isn't. There is a sign there that points one direction for swimmer and one for fishermen. You might want to walk the beach first to see what I'm talking about.

Last year's Annapolis Oly course was the same except they swim from the beach out further and then do a little loop back for the 1500m swim. They also swam the reverse direction as my description. Or, it was supposed to be the swim course before they canceled the darn thing. I'm not bitter.

A few of us are heading out for a swim @ Sandy Point Sunday around 8ish, if anyone else would like to join.

Has anyone ever seen a cue sheet for a bike ride out there? I've searched the forums and bikely, and haven't turned anything up. I might not be looking in the right places. Any advice is welcome!

Becky and I will be out there as well for an OWS on Sunday (time tbd) but we are looking for a running route. Trying to do 10miles or so after the swim.
If anyone who swam on Monday stayed to bike afterwards has a cue sheet or good sense of direction and remembers the route they biked please post or email me directly

fabulous, see you at 8!
I'll do a separate post with tomorrow's date - in case folks don't open this thread b/c they're not free today.

I am hoping to knock out a 12 mile run. It may not be pretty, but I gotta do it.

Some of us got scared off by Mother Nature this past Sunday so are going to try again this Sunday.

Sandy Point, 8 am, swim.
Karen and I are planning on doing the Annapolis bike course after.

Let me know if you are interested.
Amanda

Oh, and Becky, I don't know if you noticed, but you can change the title for the post, but it keeps it on the same thread.

Amanda,

Can you send me a cue sheet for the bike? I might be interested in a quick swim and cycle.

Thanks.

Tammy,
In case Amanda hasn't sent it yet, the cue sheet is on this forum post. You might have to click back a page or 2. Tuan The Vertical Swimmer posted it for us, it's the Annapolis Bike course.

Hope to see you guys out there!

By the way, I'm thinking an 8am arrival to the park and then dealing with the wetsuit application...so maybe more like an 8:15 swim time?

I'm in for both the swim and the bike.

The aqua vertical show is about to give the women of DCTri something to talk about :) A warning though, anybody who swims within 5 feet of me is fair game. I'm grabbing on and I'm not letting go.

Agreed! I can only hope there will be another report from the vertical swimmer.

Blain just got a tune up from Contes, a new chain and is ready!!

::;^)::

Karen - how do you get the faces?
Update - thanks. This is where you can get the faces. And how to do links, bold, etc.

I'm a maybe leaning towards no... but the idea of witnessing the vertical swimmer in action is certainly incentive. If I do go it will just be a swim for me...

Em and I did make it out last Sunday (but the time we got there the rain stopped, by the time we were done swimming the sun was shining bright, by the time we were running, it was flippin hot!)

have fun if I don't see you Sunday... and happy taper!
