REEVES AQUATIC CENTER at The American University
The Reeves Aquatic Center consists of two pools: an eight-lane 25 yard competition pool and a three-lane warm-water teaching pool. Enter through the Jacobs Fitness Center, where you'll sign in on a clinic attendance sheet. From there, go down the adjacent stairs to get to the shower rooms and pools, all located in the Bender Arena/Sports Building Complex. There's convenient, free parking in the attached Sports Center Garage. ( See www.american.edu for a terrific, interactive map of the campus which will help you find the buildings).

Coach Beth O’Connor Baker: Lead Instructor
Coach Baker is a renowned swimming technician among the most elite swimmers & triathletes in the area. She has coached:
-an NCAA swimming champion, nationally ranked (top 3 in the country) swimmers
-age-group swimmers and Olympic Trials Qualifiers
-multiple winners of regional triathlons.
Coach Baker's drills have been published in the United States Masters Swimming Magazine, Swimmer. At age 40, she broke more than 35 USMS National and World records and was named one of the USMS 'Masters Swimmers of the Year' for 2001. Her times continue to place among the FINA All-Time Top 10 rankings. Along with her work with Curl-Burke Masters Swimming, Coach Baker serves as the Technique Coach for the American University Men's & Women's Swimming Programs, as well as for Overlee Swim Club, the top team in the Northern Virginia Swim League for the last 4 years.
Coach Baker has over 20 years of experience in triathlon/aquathlon & open water swimming. She's a multiple time All-American in triathlon and duathlon, age-group National Sprint Triathlon Champion, National Open Water champion on a 2 mile cable course and winner/top 3 finisher of numerous local and regional multi-sport events over the years, including the Reston Triathlon, in which she was the Female Champion three times. She still holds the two fastest women's swim splits in the Reston race (20:29, 1981 and 21:08, 1989). In 2007, Coach Baker won the 45-49 Aquathlon World Championship in Ixtapa, Mexico.
Meghan Thiel, Coach
Thiel is an Olympic Trials qualifier, four-time American University Swimming MVP, and 2 time Patriot League Swimmer of the Year, multiple event winner at Patriot-League Championships and NCAA Qualifier; triathlete, Current Coach of Curl Burke Swim Club and former Director of the Curl Burke Swim School.
Buddy Reed, Coach
He is the Head CUBU Masters Coach at the American University site, swam collegiately for Clemson Univ, top ACC performer."
