Spring Training in Spain
Catering to the avid cyclist, Eurocycler camps offer a performance-focused vacation in Girona, Spain... training grounds for cycling's elite professionals.
Home base for the duration of the 7-day program is Hotel Giverola, a spots-focused resort overlooking the Mediterranean Sea that features indoor and outdoor pool, tennis courts, a beach (including open water swimming) and a fully equipped gym and wellness facility. The 2009 Tour de France rode right by the hotel.
Rides range from 40 miles to 110 miles with anywhere from 3,500 to 8,000 vertical feet of climbing.
The eight-day, seven-night itinerary features six days of riding, with optional days off for trips to nearby Girona or Barcelona. A typical day consists of the following:
7:00am-9:00am: Healthy buffet-style breakfast
9:30am-10:00am: Ride groups depart
9:30am-12:00pm: Training ride
12:00pm-12:45pm: Picnic lunch on the road
12:45pm-3:00pm: Daily training ride continues, sometimes until 5:00pm
3:00pm-6:00pm: Guests on their own to relax by pool, get massage, etc.
7:00pm: Dinner in resort dining room
8:30pm: Optional nightly training presentation
There will be several ride groups based on ability, while avid riders might ride in the "espresso" group, their friends or spouses might ride in the "latte" group.
