DC Tri Winter Marathon/Half Marathon Training Group - *2016-2017 season*
The Winter Running Group is a spin-off from Wednesday track workouts at Wilson. During the polar vortex winter of 2013-2014, some track regulars based in downtown DC decided to get together at the weekend for winter marathon training and it was seriously motivating. This year the group will continue with weekly runs on Saturdays only. Typically runs start between 9 and 10AM and they will head out from a different location each week. The first run of the plan will be Saturday October 29, but runners are welcome to join mid-plan. They will follow a training plan that will have you ready for a marathon/half-marathon by March. The plan isn’t strict – people can join for the full run or a part of it, whatever suits them. The goal is to have a few different pace groups each week. Regardless of pace, we will all start and finish together – when the final runner is done, we all head off for hot drinks and food (preferably cake). Find out more about the runs at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/DCTriWinterMarathonGroup/ or contact Mark Raugust
Sunday Rock Creek Park Run (See Note below for Status)
Sundays at 9:00 AM from Pierce Mill. This run is a popular off-season run that often continues year round. Out and back and loop trails; distance of your choice, typically from 3 to 11 miles; terrain: lots of hills, flat pavement, or flattish trails. Since the Pierce Mill Visitors Center was renovated, the group now meets in the south parking lot (downstream)--the one with the bathrooms. Ride there to make it a brick.
NOTE: We currently do not have a Lead for this run, so it is best to check this forum thread to if anyone is planning to meet or if you want to get a group together! If you'd like to be a run leader, email email@example.com.
