Natalia Szlarb

January, 2022
Natalia was inspired to do her first triathlon when her best friend in Poland did it first.  But once she tried it, she knew she was sold.  Her first triathlon was Olympic distance at Lake Anna.  Since then she quickly discovered that the longer she goes, the better she gets.  In 2020, she completed her first Ironman in Cozumel, and the next year she qualified for Kona at Ironman Cour D’Alene.
2022 was her first year on the team but it was also the year when she became a mom to little Isabella. 2023 is going to be for Natalia all about rebuilding herself as a new athlete, coming back for those podiums with her teammates all while being a new parent and a lawyer by day.
Age Group /Birth Location: 30-34 / Szczecin, Poland
Years Racing: 4 years
Athletic Background: A little bit of cross country in high school, but in general, I’ve been always just an enthusiastic trail runner.
Strengths on the course: Never having issues with taking the right amount of calories on the course :). Problem solving + Adaptability to all conditions. And when it comes to the three disciplines of triathlon, then it is running, which always feels like my safe zone.
Goals for 2023: To enjoy every race I enter into and remain injury free!  2023 is going to be a comeback year for me after giving birth to a baby girl in the fall of 2022 so I am trying not put any *too big* expectations on myself but for discovering what a new me can do!
Favorite Places To Train: Rock Creek Park. And actually also just my home, when I can ride my trainer and watch some of the *finest* reality tv guilt-free.
Favorite thing when not swimming, biking, or running: Hanging out with my new baby, visiting local farmer’s markets, cooking for my friends, and then enjoying dinner with them and some board games.
Favorite food: Pizza. Neapolitan from a wood-fired oven.
Fun Fact:  I raced triathlons in every trimester.  Also, I missed the deadline to submit this bio. (By a LOT)
Fav Race distance:  Still undecided between 70.3 and the full Ironman.  Time will tell.
Fav Race: All races at Lake Anna, Va. I love the rolling hills, how green and easy it is to get to!
