The DC Triathlon Club will once again be offering a structured indoor cycling training program this winter.  There are three (3) sessions offered this year and all sessions will have the option for brick runs after the workout:

  • Session I has been cancelled for 2020. will be held on Saturday mornings (6:30AM-8:30AM) in NE DC or Northern Virginia. The location will be determined by Dec 9. Fear not, if you register prior to the location being finalized, you can switch to Session II if it is more convenient. The program will be 12 weeks long and will use the Trainer Road software (discount code will be provided with registration).  If participants do not have power meters you will be required to purchase the appropriate sensor to convert trainers to virtual power (about $35).  Further details will be sent in future emails.
Session I registration (you must be logged in with an active membership to view the registration in the shop)

  • Session II will be held on Sunday mornings (7:30AM-9:30AM) at Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda. The program will be 12 weeks long and will use the Trainer Road software (discount code will be provided with registration).  If participants do not have power meters you will be required to purchase the appropriate sensor to convert trainers to virtual power (about $35).  Further details will be sent in future emails.
Session II registration (you must be logged in with an active membership to view the registration in the shop)

  • Session III will be held on Wednesday evenings (7:30PM-9:00PM) at Off Road Spin Studio (Cap Hill). The Off Road studio classes will be 8 weeks long.  Participants will log in using the studio software and workout data will be sent directly to your email.
Session III registration (Off Road website)

  • Session IV will be held on Saturday mornings (6:30AM-8:30AM) at Off Road Spin Studio (U Street). The Off Road studio classes will be 8 weeks long. Participants will log in using the studio software and workout data will be sent directly to your email.
Session IV registration (Off Road website)

If you are wondering which class is for you, know that all classes will perform a threshold test in the second week of the program, which will allow each rider to target their specific “sweet spot” for training. If you are new to the sport of triathlon or cycling, do not have a trainer, do not enjoy packing up a bike and trainer each weekend, are racing shorter distances, or enjoy video rides, the studio sessions (III / IV) might be the best option for you. Likewise, if you have completed your first triathlon, prefer the comfort of your own bike, and see the workouts as a key driver of your overall fitness, the trainer/bike sessions (I / II) will likely be the best fit for you.
