This group is open to all members, but is focused on connecting athletes who run 10 minutes per mile or slower (including those who run/walk), bike an average 16 mph or below on flats (including those who struggle with hill climbing or are intimidated by group rides), and swim at a pace of greater than 1 minute per 50 yards.

  • Mod2Slow Joins the DC Tri Club Saturday Ride – May 6, June 3, July 1, August 5, and September 2
  • The first Saturday of the month from May through September the Mod2Slow pace group will join the Club’s Saturday ride. This no-drop ride will have a sweeper and support paces from 13-16 mph (flats). For those who are comfortable riding in traffic, but have been reluctant to join the group rides, this is a great option to become familiar with the route at a pace you’re comfortable with.

Start Time/Location: This ride typically leaves Capitol Hill at 7:10/8:10 AM (summer/winter) from 8th and Penn SE with a pickup in Georgetown behind the bank at Wisconsin and M NW at 7:30/8:30 AM (summer/winter).

Course: No Drop from Georgetown to BP Station and back (roughly 25-30 miles). We will regroup at the BP station before returning back to DC. If you decide to keep going beyond the BP there will no longer be a sweeper.

For more general information about the Saturday ride, see the thread and map below.

  • Help us build our community by volunteering to lead a ride or run!
  • We want to create an environment where more people feel comfortable in attending group trainings. In order to make group training more accessible to slow to moderate paced athletes we are looking for a volunteers to coordinate one time rides or runs. The responsibility of the lead will include selecting the route, organizing the group meet up, providing the necessary information about the specific ride/run route, arranging a sweeper, and, of course, creating a group training atmosphere. If you’re interested in coordinating an event please contact Elizabeth Corona at community@dctriclub.org.
