I’ve purchased a team entry for the 2025 3M Challenge – Muscle vs Machine vs Mountain.
Where: Cumberland, MD
When: September 13, 2025
Vision: We’ll travel to Cumberland (separately or together) on September 12, so we’re there to race the train the next morning.
I’ve ridden the course. Some of it is paved and some is crushed gravel. All of it offers stunning views of Mountain Maryland.
The challenge is to have a better climb time than the WMSR 1309 Steam Engine. Over 40 % of the riders beat the train in 2023
The individuals who beat the climb time of the locomotive receive recognition.
Individuals and teams (up to 6 riders) will depart Cumberland every 10 minutes, beginning as early as 8:00 AM, from the water spout on the train platform at WMSR.
The 4th rider finishing the race will determine the team’s time. The last rider will determine team time for teams of less than four riders.
Ebikes – are NOT included in this event.
