Come one, come all for a fun-filled morning at the Rock n' Roll Marathon. Here's a chance to kick it with a large group of your DC Tri mates and lend a hand to runners at the finish line!
DC Tri is going to send a group to handle gear pick-up at the finish line. Here are the details:
Lead Volunteer: Jen Carroll
Date: Sat, March 15
Time: 7:30 am - 2:30 pm
(Should be done way before 2:30 pm)
Location: RFK Stadium
Perks: T-shirt, Race Crew gear bag, Metro reimbursement or free parking, Food and drinks
* If DC Tri can get at least 50 volunteers at this particular shift (based on race day check in numbers, not signed up numbers) CGI will put all the DC Tri volunteer names into a raffle for a Nation's Tri entry. The raffle will be done the week AFTER the race.
* Furthermore, if we have 50+ volunteers, we'll all be treated to a group brunch/drinks at the end of the morning!
Here is a sign up link for the shift. Please use this link, as this link is the only way race staff will know who is and isn't DC Tri. On this page, the *second* box on the page will have DC Tri Club filled in. You should just select "Join Group." Then the page will auto populate with the shift. Then you will select Next and proceed to fill in their information.
now with more clicky:
Don't forget... 50+ DC Tri volunteers and brunch/drinks is on CGI!
We need a lot more volunteers to get brunch/drinks and a raffled Nation's entry!
Reminder... once we hit 50 volunteers we have a blowout brunch/drinks on CGIs tab! Post-race volunteer party! We need many more volunteers in the next month, though... so get your friends, club mates, brothers, sisters and even your grandma for a fun day at RFK!
2 WEEKS until race day and we need about 30 more volunteers! We're going to have a blast... and the plans for a volunteer-only HAPPY HOUR with FREE drinks have been finalized! After you volunteer, you'll be sent the specifics about the Happy Hour. If you're thinking about volunteering, the time to act is NOW! If you've already volunteered, go find some friends to join us, club members or not! But make sure they use the volunteer link provided earlier in this thread to sign up.
AND... I forgot one other perk... a FREE ENTRY TO NATION'S TRI WILL BE RAFFLED OFF TO ONE OF THE 50 DC-TRI VOLUNTEERS!
If you've already volunteered, check out the FB event on the DC Triathlon FB page and "Join" the event. We're inside 2 weeks until race day. Time to make the final push for 50 volunteers!
We're halfway to 50 with 6 days until Saturday! If you plan on coming to help on Saturday but haven't registered through the link, PLEASE register through the link! You'll receive your welcome package from CGI that'll give you all the info you need to know for Saturday.
If you haven't volunteered yet, don't forget the FREE Nation's entry that will be raffled off and the FREE Happy Hour, courtesy of CGI.
Bring our your friends, club members or not. See you there!
We're inching our way towards 50! 28 signed up, 22 to go. If you've signed up and you have a friend you think would enjoy the event, give them the link and have them sign up.
If you're one of the 28 lucky ones who HAVE volunteered already, go out to our Facebook event page (it's an event for RnR Volunteers on the DC Tri Club's facebook page), and click the "join" button. Let the club know who's going out!
You can also sign up to volunteer directly by clicking here:
You guys rock! We have 30 volunteers so far... 20 to go! But with only a few days until the event, we need your help to enlist your friends and get them signed up.
Late registrants will get an email from Karen Willard with details on parking, checking in, etc.
For those of us who registered before March 7, should we have received a snail mail letter with additional info by now?
Yes, you should have received a snail mail letter. However, if you did not, contact Karen Willard directly and she will email you a parking pass: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Just wanted to thank Nik for spearheading the volunteer effort for this weekend. As you know, it's sometimes close to impossible to not sound like a nag, just read this forum! We don't take it personally, we know people are busy. It takes SO much to run this club and we need your help throughout the year. Simple as that.
I think we're very close to our needed goal so thanks to all of you volunteering.
I plan to do the half and help out at Gear Retrieval til my calves seize up; they're like a timer.
Good luck to all of you racing, particularly those that have never gone 13.1 or 26.2!!
Wear some DC Tri Gear and see ya out there!
PS If you'd like to garner some club camaraderie, let's warm up, stretch, and meet up at the SW corner of Constitution and 15th say 645am.
And the club has announced this extra sweetener for vols (& participants):
"We want to invite all the Rock n Roll volunteers & runners from the DC Tri Club to have a beer post event (4-6 pm) on behalf of the Events DC Nations Triathlon at The Blaguard at 2003 18th Street NW (corner of Florida & 18th Street)".
