I registered for the Jim McDonnell Lake Swim on May 23rd & 24th. Has anyone else registered for it? Has anyone done it before?
Yes, in for the clinic and 1 & 2 milers on Sunday. Water temps looks real nice! Last year, it was really cold!
see you guys there on sun! i'll be wearing my club stuff. Kev and Hugh and other guys doing 3 miles - wow. Simon
Wow! Awesome! Let's definitely meet up! I was thinking of going for a bike ride after the clinic tomorrow. Is this possible? Is there a bike trail close to it?
The W&OD trail is right nearby:
Go back up South Lakes Drive, take a right on Sunrise Valley, and you'll find the trail. :)
Thanks Simon! I will be there with my bike.
Won't be there for the clinic tomorrow. See you on Sunday.
There should be at least a few people riding after the clinic. You can either do the W&OD or get the Cue sheet for the Reston Tri. I'm still undecided which route to take, but the W&OD gets better the further out you go, so a ride to Purcellville might be a good call.
In for the 1 mile wetsuit and 2 mile non-wetsuit tomorrow. All for training for IM-CDA. Just getting over a virus so I hope my form holds up.
Just saw on the website that the water temperature is 70 degrees as of Thursday. That's gonna be warm in a wetsuit.
I went to the one mile swim this morning and the water was just perfect!
This race is so much fun. I did the 1-mile with a full length wetsuit and completely roasted. Then, I followed it up with the 2-mile w/o a wetsuit. Swam well for mile one (exact same time as my first race) and ran out of steam on the second lap. Probably should have reversed my racing attire for today. Great to see Carrie (sp), Kevin, Richard, Doug H., Kelzie, Matias and Emily out there today. Almost tempted to bring the club tent today. Gotta put this one on the calendar for next year.
I agree, it was a great day for a swim although it was pretty hot by the time we started the 2 mile swim. The sandwiches were so good! Cheers!
Lots of fun even though I almost come in last in the 2 miler! Just wish I wasn't getting slower every year. Oh well, that is why there is the run in a triathlon! :-)
