As DC's gay pride is approaching this weekend the DC Tri LGBT contingent will be assisting Team DC this year to hand out drinks in the Beverage Garden during the Capital Pride Festival on Sunday June, 9th from, 12-7pm. We are seeking some volunteers to help bar tend and hand out drinks. All tips that are made at this event will be given to the club which can be used to help send our club to the 2014 Gay Games in Cleveland, Ohio (or maybe throw an awesome party after the games). Plus its an opportunity for free drinks...can't turn that down. Please reply to this post here if you are interested in helping out. More details to follow.
I can help. But I'm assuming we don't have to be there the whole 12-7pm?
Yeah you are correct people do not need to be there the whole time. Those are just the hours of the festival. Sorry should have clarified that.
Sounds fun. Count me in. I could do a couple hours say, 2-4?
I am good with volunteering for a couple hours. I can do something in the afternoon.
I'd be up for helping out a few hours in the early evening, like 4-6P.
Thanks for your interest in helping out. I just got word from Team DC that our shift will be from 4-6pm on Sunday and we will need about 5-6 people (which is what we have now).
Sweet. Now, the question is, what to wear? ha ha
Dave, I'm assuming you will send logistics later? (where to meet, when, etc)
Yes you are correct and here it is :)
We will be serving Beer/Wine at the Main Stage from 4-6pm and also (this is new) staffing a Bucket Brigade shift from 2-3pm. We can have the same people doing the Bucket Brigade shift as the beer garden or different people. Thus, if any one wants an earlier shift or can come early it would be much appreciated. The purpose of this shift is to provide additional support to the volunteers that staff the entrances to Pride. While there is no fee to enter, they do ask for donations. Because of what occurred in Boston at the marathon, the city asked Capital Pride to beef up their "eyes and ears" at the Festival, so this is Team DC's attempt to help with that.
The Bucket Brigade and Beer Garden folks should meet at the Team DC tent 10 minutes before the shift begins to check in.
Please let me know what shift you can do and if you can do both shifts. (And the unspoken rule is Volunteers Drink Free!) Thanks again everyone, see you Sunday. Oh and wear something dc tri related.
Do you guys still need people? I have yet to hang out with you guys, but want to come to a HH and get to know everyone. Seems like a good time to jump in.
Hey there, I am in for the 4-6 shift. I am sorry I can't make it out earlier. Thanks for coordinating!
Sweet as, bro. I'll be there. If Bryan is serious about wearing his one-piece race suit then I'll wear mine.
I am also in for the 4-6. I just joined the club so I don't have any dc tri gear just yet. See you tomorrow. Please let me know if anything changes. Amber
