Richard & I are planning to ride 100 tomorrow starting at Iwo Jima Memorial at 8:30ish. And hopefully not too crazy of a pace!
Change of plans: Richard won't get home until late tomorrow. So I may bike down to Georgetown to ride with the group or run long depending on the weather and how I feel. I'm still trying to kick a lingering cold.
I am new to the group ride and will be waiting at the corner of M and Wisconsin at 8am. B pace, would like to go for about 40 miles. Is there a ride map I can print?
Links to the cue sheets are on the 1st page of this post.
Hey Kevin I'll see you in g-town. Hopefully this wind does down and it warms up a bit.
I'm probably in for Sugarloaf. Can anybody send the link that includes the climb up Sugarloaf?
Here's a route.

Now that it's sufficiently warm and light, is it time to move up the start to 7:10 Hill/7:30 Gtown?
YES! Especially since Saturday is Tour De Fat, and the parade starts at 11:00.
Howdy gang! I'm off to Skyline tomorrow, but I wanted to give you all a heads up about the Mid-Atlantic Golf Championship at Avenel Farm this weekend... the traffic in Potomac (super close to the BP on Oaklyn Drive) will likely be ridiculous and require extra vigilance.
Please be safe!
Okay, I've fought you early risers off about as long as I can.
The ride is now officially a 7:10 departure from 8th and Penn SE and 7:30 roll through Wisco and M. NW. And since we are starting early, that means we have to go longer to make it worth it.
I'm planning a steady paced ride to Poolesville with bonus hills worked in. We'll be careful rolling down Persimmon Tree.
What is the mileage for tomorrow's ride?
You can find out all of the route details on the original post of this thread (which I'm just about to make a minor change to the start time).
If the folks with web access could change the start time on the calendar, that would be awesome. Thanks!
Changed the times on the site to reflect the summer schedule. lmk if you find a place that has the incorrect times listed.
Looking to ride to the T and then do a longish run, ~10 miles, starting in Courthouse. Thinking into the city along the mall to take advantage of the water fountains. Would love to have company, avg pace about 745/mi.
See you guys in the morning
Nice riding today, everyone.
The heat really worked us over today but now we have that out of the way. The rest of the season we can embrace the heat and work on our jersey tans.
The traffic heading out River Rd. today was pretty nasty. I was at the back of that long pace line and was glad to see that everyone was reacting appropriately and holding the line despite the honking and aggressive driving. Nice work!
I don't think those cars were honking at us. The two of them were involved in some sort of pissing match. One of the cars ended up stopping at the top of one of the hills and the occupants were flashing vulgar signs and screaming obscenities at one another.
Nice... even better. Road rage while sharing the road with 20 cyclists is always a great situation.
Eric is one of the original members of the Saturday ride and he spent several years organizing the weekly ride. If you are free on July 6, this is a great chance to return the favor of volunteerism and support many of your fellow Saturday riders who will also be out there tackling this challenge.
If you've got questions, shoot me a message offline so we don't hijack the Saturday thread.
any B-groupers headed out this week? also, best suggestions for parking in georgetown?
