Hey Travis! I'm not able to squeeze in 50 that day, and I'm not sure what "out to the T" means... don't know if I could cut short or what. Can you be more specific about the route?
If I have time today I'll create some new map routes with a better explanation and map.
On the first post there is a map showing the typical route to great falls. To extend to the T, you'll climb the hill on MacArthur and turn right onto falls road. Continue a mile or two on Falls and you'll hit a light at River rd. The BP at this intersection is also a common landmark.
Turn left onto River and in ~7 miles, the road will come to a T at Seneca. Turn around and head home. So at any point you want to turn back on River you can just retrace your steps.
This ride is about 56 round trip from the hill so should be ~8 miles shorter from G-Town.
I'm in for 50-60 on Saturday with you. What kind of pace were you thinking about keeping? Do you usually jump on in Gtown?
Okay all, on the first page I updated the listing of rides to include their "names" and distances so if there is any question, consult those ride links.
They provide GPS files (if you download them) you can upload to your Garmins or whatever for turn by turn directions. You can also print out cue sheets as well.
These are the four most common routes used by the group with slight variations depending on distance, etc. but that is usually a determination during the ride.
Hopefully this helps everyone!
Thanks Bro. You are a rockstar. Hope all is going well with the baby. I am taking my daughter to Haines for her first buggy ride with NTP.
In for this weekend, picking up the ride at G'Town.
I could join in this saturday at gtown. will be first ride.
where in gtown
whats the typical pace?
Check out the first page, first post for all the ride details.
I'm out for the next few weekends, btw. =(
Okay, since it's my birthday on Saturday, I've decided to sleep in a little and not kill myself trying to keep up with y'all. If anyone wants to do about 35 starting at 9:00 AM from Georgetown, let me know.
Sorry, Travis, for cannibalising your group. :)
In for Saturday from Gtown. Might be heading out to Sugarloaf depending on weather if anyone wants to join.
Anyone interested in playing hookey on Friday and riding? Its supposed to be nice....
Route info has been updated in the original post. I'll try to keep that as updated as possible to answer the common questions.
Once we hit the reservoir on MacArthur, the lead group will typically be pushing 22-23mph, sometimes faster as the season wears on. The chase pack will usually stay pretty steady at 20mph. Unless I'm drafting the whole way or roped in to Eric's bike, I'll likely be in the 20mph group this week.
If you think you have trouble maintaining 18-20 in a pace line, please post your typical speed to make sure you'll have someone to ride with. I'd love to see a third speed group out there and it will just take a little work and some regular riders to help make it happen.
I'm in! Gotta get in three hours.
An additional "B" pacegroup will depart from Georgetown at 9 AM, lead by myself and Mandi Leissoo. We will do about 35-40 miles total, probably only out a few miles on River before heading back. It's my birthday on Saturday, and I have lunch plans at 1:30! :)
Our expected pace will be around 18-20mph (obviously slower on the climbs and faster on the descents).
Let me know if you're interested in joining so we know to wait for you!
I'm in too! Hope for good weather!
I'm in for Saturday 8:10 am Eastern Market Metro. I'm good for 40 miles, 20-22mph. Not planning on doing much more- This is my brick with a 7mi run after and this week's training has already been kicking my ass.
I'll be there, too. I will plan to average one zillion- one zillion and a half miles per hour. In my mind, that is.
Can you add one more to the group 'B' ride departing from Georgetown 9am
I am out for tomorrow. The folks at contes just told me my 2010 P3 is basically junked due to a crack in the seat tube and is not rideable. Lovely news. Any recommendations?
Sorry to hear that!
Did you crash the bike? If not, it seems to me that the crack should potentially be covered by warranty.
Also, try contacting Cervelo directly. Our club buys a LOT of Cervelos. This should carry some weight with them. I heard once that Conte's is the nation's leading distributor of Cervelo bikes. By extrapolation, DC Tri is one of the leading purchasing groups for Cervelo.
If you didn't directly cause the crack, you should have a strong argument for some sort of compensation.
