Sorry for the confusion... I'll do a better job of being clear and will update the ride details. Last week was kind of spur of the moment.
Right now I'm waiting to hear from the under 20mph crowd for their start time preference before updating the post. At the moment, I'm thinking A group at 7:10/7:30 and B group at 8:10/8:30 until I hear a call to change the B group. Sound good?
For the new folks, while we are pretty consistent about start times, we do tend to start earlier when the rides get longer and temps start to rise. There are also occasional weekends when scheduling doesn't work out so well - like last week. Always remember to check the recent forum chatter for the most up to date info.
Whatever happened, we had ~10 in the early group and ~20 in the late group and that is awesome! Especially considering the chilly temps and the bricknic going on at Columbia.
I'm in for the B group and could go at either 7:30 8:30 from gtown. I'll leave it to others who may have a preference.
I'm also in for the B group and could do either 7:30 or 8:30, whatever is the group preference. Looking to do 40 or so.
Count me in for an 810 roll from cap hill. Like last week I'm turning at bp station so about 40 miles from 8th and Penn. Hope to have a good group like last week.
I want about 75mi tomorrow, down with the early ride, what do you mean by "steady state", Travis?
I you have to ask, you won't want to ride that slow.
Definitely slower than Patrick's pace last week but if you want to pull me along hopefully I can keep up.
Not at all, let's do it, 75mi is hella long for me anyway so I'll need to relax. Will let you know later if I'm meeting at Georgetown or Cap hill, probably Georgetown though.
I'm in for a B group ride at 8:30 from Georgetown. 40 miles sounds good.
Planning to go 7:30 from GTown to Poolesville (~65mi roundtrip). Est avg. ~18mph, whatever letter group that falls into. -Ben
7:30 GTown 65 miles 18 mph ave ... all sounds perfect for the AA-/BB++/?BTW/WTF?/ROFL? group that I'm in.... see you there and then
Old Man Dan
For anyone looking to do something shorter than 75 and faster--some intervals sandwiched by easy spinning, I'm planning to ride tomorrow. With a run afterwards, potentially.
I'm in for Poolesville starting at 7:10 from the hill. I could be persuaded to go farther if anyone else is interested.
I'm skipping out on the extra hills so I can pick up my bacon and cheese baguette.
I'm good with a shorter and faster ride - Perhaps the interval group. Please let me know the time - I prefer 8:30 but if the group prefers earlier, I'll try to call it a night a little earlier tonight.
I'll be in the 7:10/7:30 group.
I'll be there for the 7:30 (Gtown) group. I'm probably going to turn back at the T.
So it sounds like we have two groups heading out again this weekend.
The 7:10/7:30 crowd has a crew heading out to Poolesville at a relatively quick pace, a shorter very quick paced group led by Patrick heading out to Great Falls and a couple of folks heading to the T at 18-20mph. We'll regroup at the BP in Potomac and again at the Chevron station in Poolesville.
The 8:10/8:30 crowd has a group riding <20mph with most folks heading to Great Falls and back.
With the different groups heading out, it's important to reinforce that everyone is responsible for knowing the routes (linked in the first post of this thread). Just remember that, while it is a group ride, it is not a 'no drop' ride. So it's up to each rider to be familiar with the route in the event that you get separated. That being said, I don't think anyone has been left behind recently and the more folks we have coming out, the more pace groups represented. Keep it up!
I hope that keeps everyone straight on what's happening.
Great ride last week. The pace line out to Great Falls was working really well and it made it very east to ride fast out MacArthur. We were quick enough that Patrick was surprised how long we were able to outrun his z11 intervals.
I'm out for the ride this week due to Kinetic. If you are planning to ride, please let everyone know.
I think for now the A group leaving at 7:10/7:30 and a B group at 8:10/8:30 is working well. We'll keep it there for a while.
The Poolesville Road Race is on Saturday. I'll probably roll out of bed late and ride over there to watch a few laps then ride home, if anyone is interested.
I'll be there for the B ride. Not sure if it'll be at the Capitol or Georgetown, but see you then!
Count me in for the b ride as well. See you in g-town.
