I'm in for B group starting at Georgetown at 0800
Ed, did someone steal your bike AGAIN!?
See you in the morning.
No, Patrick, it's in the shop. But several clubbers did recently break up a big bike theft ring in Maryland...
Wow, a big A group and B group today. It was great to see so many new faces out there. Tom, Virgil, James, many others, I hope you'll join the club:
and come out for the 3 time trials we have in October
Registration will be emailed out in a couple weeks. $10. can't beat it.
Nice work out there today:
Great group on the long ride to Sugarloaf Mountain! Thanks for pulling us Kaj!
Kaj is a beast! he probably did a few repeats up sugarloaf too!
A few of us are planning to head out to Skyline for those interested in changing it up this weekend.
For those that are, details can be found on this post.
Looking for an interesting long ride to top off the end of the season - any favorites? For example, is there a DC to Baltimore ride (and train back)? DC to Annapolis?
Northwest Branch Trail ride, Rock Creek to Lake Needham, Mt. Weather, Sugarloaf Mt., White's Ferry, Seagull Century...
You could go Monument to Monument:
Not sure about a train back on the weekends but you could take MARC if you do it on a weekday.
Why stop at Annapolis? Go all the way to Sandy Point and do a post ride OWS.
New to the Saturday ride thread... Anyone going for a ride tomorrow morning?
Kritin (and others),
I'm planning to ride tomorrow - two hours to Great Falls (~35 mi from G'town) » and will probably do a few hill repeats into the park at Great Falls.
We meet at Wisconsin and M NW and I'll settle for the 8:00 AM start time from there.
I'm game for riding tomorrow.
Sounds like 8am at the G-town starting spot.
Distance TBD on the fly.
Any B groupers headed out? Finally going to try to make it out for this ride. I've had a nice 5 wks off, so probs can't keep up with the A groupers this weekend.
Great, I'lll see you tomorrow at M& Wis.
Tom, I'll probably ride a B group level as I'm just coming back from an injury over the summer.
Great, see y'all in Georgetown at 8.
I haven't had a chance to ride with DCTri as I recently joined. I'm currently starting to taper for a 140.6 in October, anyone know what the A and B group speeds typically average?
I plan on getting in around 60 miles tomorrow so I might ride out to Great Falls and then continue on toward Whites Ferry before heading back.
Great, see you guys out there.
Also, in general throughout the summer the B group will skip Mountain Gate (and stay on MacArthur) and the hill into the park at Great Falls (just take the right on Falls Rd.). That way we all sync up at the BP Gas Station around the same time.
Pace: The lead A group typically rides at an average pace of 20-23mph. Chase pack usually sticks to a steady 20mph. We generally have a regular B pace group of 16-19mph.
See the first page for more details and routes.
It seems like a long time since I've been out on the ride. Looking forward to a good group tomorrow. I'm down with either Great Falls or Seneca. Preferably with a stop at Dean and DeLuca in Georgetown at the end. It is the off-season, after all.
I've updated the original post to reflect the new off-season start times of 7:45/8:00. This will probably be the start time throughout the fall and winter unless weather dictates otherwise.
I'm also going to plug the Rock Creek Park Trail runs on Sunday mornings. We've had a good group through the summer but the regularity of these runs always picks up in the off-season. Join us.
There is a strong move towards off-road riding so look for some Sunday afternoon MTB rides this fall/winter shoot me a message if you're interested.
See you tomorrow,
I'm in for Saturday. Looking to get in around 50. See everyone at 8am.
