I just wanted to let everyone know that the Snapple Tri Team is helping direct a half marathon on January 30, 2010 starting from Carderock. 100% of the proceeds go to charity. It's going to be an amazing event, so please come out for some dead of winter inspiration. The half marathon is also just in time to serve as a NYC qualifier for those of you who want to hustle.
Check out our blog for details:
For those of you who are new to this part of the woods, the "Cloud" in the name refers to "High Cloud." It's a charity organization founded by two DCTri members (Adriana and Matt Anderson). Adriana did her first Ironman this year (IMFL) and Matt will do his first next year (IMFL 2010).
These two are great individuals with more energy than a Energizer bunny. Run and support this race if you can.

Yes! We're raising money for High Cloud. Thanks for updating with the details on the charity.
I plan to run it and suggested it as an event for some fellow NTPers who are going to do HIM this year.
Running is not my strong sport so I'm trying to get a few halfs under my belt before Eagleman (just so I know what racing that distance feels like).
is this going to happen snow or shine?
I'm in either way.
Anyone know anything about transferring numbers or late registration if there's a cancellation? Registration is closed and I'm dying to get in.
Don't know about transfer/late reg. I'm sure you can do both since it's not a big race. Friend of mine has a bib she isn't using. Let me know if you want it and I'll hook you up with her.
hhertler AT me Dot com.
Our plan is to move forward snow/shine. The only caveats are if (1) we feel it's unsafe, or (2) the national park service forces us to cancel.
The current weather is just calling for snow showers, so I think we're good to go.
Unfortunately, there won't be any late registration. Our permit capped our entrants and we sold a few over in anticipation of no shows.
For transfers, email the race director, Jay Wind, through the event website:
Thanks everyone. Can't wait to see you guys out there.
Can one pledge a runner, for instance $2 a mile, to support High Cloud?..
OK, then I'll pledge $1 for every mile TJ finishes, ditto for Hillary.
And everyone should. :)
You can make your pledges public on this forum or privately through runners and then donations can be made through the High Cloud website:
Rain, Shine or little Snow flurries the race is still on unless the Park Police says something different on race day. But, regardless of the little snow/weather conditions, your body is trained and ready to race and before you know it, you will be standing at the finish line surrounded by an enthusiastic group of High Clouders who will be there watching you race, cheering you on the whole WAY!!Yay! Can’t wait to see you all on Saturday and yes, pledges are welcome! You never know who you will inspire on race day!

Definitely a good time. The snow was a nice touch. Beautiful.

I don't know if Hilary Cairns is still a member of the club... but she still runs really fast.
