Looking for an excellent orthopedic surgeon in the area who specializes in addressing knee pain and caters primarily to endurance athletes if possible. Welcome all suggestions!
Dr. Ben Shaffer is terrific! Here's a link: http://www.wosm.com/index.php/our-physicians-/benjamin-s-shaffer-md
He also has a good sense of humor.
I had a meniscus repair with Dr. Klimkiewicz at Georgetown Hospital. Thought he was a great surgeon and good guy. That was 4 years ago and my knee has been feeling great.
I had an ACL replacement with Dan Pereles in 2010, and it's been a total success. He is a triathlete also, so he'll understand your needs. Good luck!
I also had a great experience with Dr. Klimkiewicz (Dr. K) at Georgetown. Had my ACL done in 2007 and it has been great. Very experienced and thorough. Seems to be very accessible via email, too (he gives you a card with it at every visit).

He's G-town's team doctor, Cap's Team Dr.
He did my knee surgery in 2-2011; Excellent understanding of triathletes - great technician - my husband even liked him and he doesn't like anyone, especially doctors.
I don't remember his sense of humor, but he likely does.
+1 for Dr. Pereles.
