Hi Amy, I’ve experienced a similar situation in the past and, as AJ mentions, it can be related to holding your breath. I used to hold my breath and would end up with headaches all the time. I made it a point to breathe / exhale consistently and the headaches have gone away. I’d give that a shot and hopefully that helps!

I had one at Chattanooga in 90+ degree weather a few weeks back and definitely helped keep me cooler.

Having all these items figured out early in the process will allow you to get to the race more relaxed, confident and ready to execute your race no matter what the day throws at you.
Thanks again for sharing!

Now is a great time to plan and test / train your gut and see what works best so that nutrition boosts your performance rather than derail it. My go to nutrition / hydration on the bike, for example, is Infinit with 250 or so calories and other key nutrients per bottle. I also take in small bits of Honey Stinger waffles every 15-20 minutes. I’ve tested that and it works for me really well; the key is to remember to actually consume them 🙂 For this, I set an alert on my Garmin to remind me just in case.
I also would test how nutrition / hydration that will be provided on course works with your body so you can be confident, come race day, that you can turn to that if needed.

May 4, 2017 at 12:50 pm #11765ArgTriParticipantGreat, so we’ve got a nice group shaping up. In the next few weeks we can nail down specifics like time and carpools if needed. I’m thinking we meet at Great Marsh Park and be ready to ride around 8-8:30am.
April 21, 2017 at 1:42 pm #11391ArgTriParticipantHi Monica, not sure yet but guessing around 8-8:30am clip in. I’ll be driving from the DC area as well
April 19, 2017 at 3:48 pm #11361ArgTriParticipantHi Lauren, I think Atlantic City is pretty flat and fast too so Eman should be good training for it. A few of us are also doing AC in September.
Let’s plan on May 20th and see how the weather holds up as we get closer.
April 14, 2017 at 9:10 am #11174ArgTriParticipantMaybe we should take a down jacket and beanie for the brick so we can start training for the heat on the run
December 22, 2016 at 8:39 am #8273ArgTriParticipantOne thing to note is it could get pretty hot…I spectated Raleigh this year then raced Eagleman the week after and, as crazy as it may seem, I was happy I raced Eagleman and not Raleigh.
