    4/20 Saturday Ride Details:
    • Forecast: Upper 40s to start the ride, into the 60s by ride end. Partly cloudy. Going to be beautiful!
    • Meetup at Georgetown PNC Bank: 7:30AM
    • ALL paces welcome.
    • This is NOT a no-drop ride.
    • This loop is about 29 miles. The out and back into Great Falls Park around Mile 13 is entirely optional. It adds a descent to the turnaround and then a climb back out. Skipping this cuts out 2.3 miles of the route.
    • Remember that DCTriClub members can create a FREE account on Ride with GPS and connect to the Club’s account to get turn-by-turn directions on your mobile devices or can download the route for turn-by-turn directions on a Garmin/Suunto/similar device.
    • This is NOT a no-drop ride, but there will be a regroup at the BP gas station in Potomac around Mile 17.
    • While some people ride faster than others, ALL paces are welcome. And we encourage everyone to recruit friends who ride the same speed as you so that everyone has someone to ride with.
    • Remember, this route is 29 miles so your total mileage will be that PLUS whatever it takes you to bike to and from Georegtown.

LONGER Option: Up to whomever shows up. I am out this weekend for some training elsewhere. Have a great ride!

    3/30 Saturday Ride Details
    • Sunrise: 6:51AM
    • Forecast: Mid to upper 40s to start the ride, but it will warm up quickly.

LONGER Option for Saturday 3/30: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/43289521
    • This is the route that I (me) will be doing. Others are welcome to join me.
    • This route is about 53 miles round trip from Georgetown.
    • There will be a stop at Black lion cafe around Mile 35 for coffee and scones/pastries.
    • There are shorter, more direct routes to get to the cafe, but I want the mileage, so I’m wandering the roads a bit as opposed to going directly there. Feel free to map out your own route to get to the cafe sooner, if you want.
    • Again, this is NOT a no-drop ride, but there will be regroups at the BP and then again at the cafe.
Please post here with any questions or comments.

It’s March 2024, which means we are about to spring back to DST and the weather is about to warm up. The groundhog called for an early spring, so we will soon see if he/she/it was right!

The first official Saturday Club Ride of 2024 will be on March 30th, the weekend after Off-Season Spin ends. Get your bike dusted off, cleaned up, and off the trainer as we head out from Georgetown toward Potomac, MD.

ALL paces and all levels of experience welcome. This is NOT a No-Drop ride (there will be at least one re-group point) so we encourage everyone to either be familiar with the route or use a GPS device for turn-by-turn directions.

We encourage everyone to create a FREE RideWithGPS account and then associate your free account with the DCTriathlonClub’s RideWithGPS Club account. Doing so gives you all features of a premium account at no cost to you (active club memberships will be checked); an $80 savings to you as part of your annual club membership. #theclubthatpaysyouback

Routes for each Saturday ride will be posted here and on Facebook with a link to a RideWithGPS route that can be used for turn-by-turn directions on your phone. Alternatively, you can download a gpx or tcx file of that route for upload to a Garmin or other smart watch (AppleWatch owners can use the RideWithGPS companion app).

Please make sure to check this thread AND the Club’s Facebook Events page for the latest information on the club ride, weather adjustments, and routes.

Welcome to the Club (and back to the area)!

I know a lot of us have moved indoors with the colder weather, but we will definitely re-emerge from our cocoons when spring rolls around. Hit us up at some of the upcoming Happy Hours or some of the events that we have coming up in January!

11/4 Saturday Ride: NOTE MEET TIME is 8:30AM in Georgetown!
The last official Saturday weekly ride event of the year. We fall off DST on Sunday and the weather is getting colder (and my Saturday mornings are basically full for the rest of the year…).
Join me for some coffee at Black lion cafe. This is the route that I will be following:
There are shorter/faster ways to get to the cafe in Rockville if you don’t want to bike 53 miles or want to start later and meet there. Also open to finding some brunch spots back in/near G’town at the end of the ride if anyone wants! It will be chilly, so dress warmly!

For 10/14 Saturday ride: hoping the weather improves, but come join the Club at the Fall Bricknic at Bensville Park. There are 26 (entirely on the Indian Head Rail Trail) and 55 mile (heads out down to Nanjemoy, MD) options. The trail is really nice and the roads out there are great to ride on (wide shoulders on most roads and low traffic in other areas). See the EventBrite for details:
    https://www.eventbrite.com/e/oktoberfest-bricknic-2023-tickets-718810931847

Please RSVP so that the organizers for the Club can plan how much food is necessary!

There will likely be a ride tomorrow. A lot of us are in Rock Hall, MD this weekend for a race, so I’m not sure who all will show up. But I hope you all have a great ride!

9/16 Ride: I’m riding out of Frederick on Saturday, but I encourage everyone to head out from G’town on Saturday and enjoy the weather! Autumn is about here and the cooler weather is setting in! Enjoy your rides!

Hi Javier, welcome to the Club and to DC!

There will likely be a group at Georgetown tomorrow. I don’t know how big. I know some of the regulars are racing at AGNats in Milwaukee this weekend and I’m riding out west of here tomorrow for a change of scenery. There will probably still be a group there at 7:30AM though, so feel free to show up and introduce yourself!

    8/5 Ride:
The weather is looking super nice this weekend (hope I didn’t jinx it! 🤞🤞🤞). Hopefully there will be a great group heading out from Georgetown.
If you want venture outside of DC on Saturday, I’m heading out to do the Mt. Weather/Blue Mountain loop. It’s a 69 mile loop with two big ascents. Marshall VA is about 45 minutes from DC out I-66 (Exit 28).
    Meetup point address:
4133 Rectortown Rd, Marshall, VA 20115
    Clip-in Time: 8:00AM
Alternative: there is an alternative option to a 55 mile loop that hits Mt. Weather and then Naked Mountain (avoids one of the major ascents). The two routes ride together for first 35 miles. Route here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/34434944 (start point is off slightly).

    7/29 Ride:

It’s going to be a hot one! So shortening up the ride a bit more. 44 mile loop out to Black Lion Coffee in Travilah, MD area (near Gaithersburg) for some iced coffee, iced mochas, iced anything, really!

Keeping it a bit shorter as some of us are tapering. Heading back to Black Lion Coffee. (and skipping the out & back into Great Falls).
