One of the best recovery foods (and balanced breakfast) is a smoothie. You can get a very wholesome meal of fruits, veggies, low fat protein and good carbs.
As for snacks, nuts are always a favorite due to the healthy fats and proteins.
I also want to add that it’s not good to exclude any food group. It’s okay to have a cookie every once in a while. Being too strict with your diet actually can work against you. We do this for fun (and health)!
