“Join the Bike Rack for the first Campfire Grind of 2018! Camp out overnight, or head home on the C&O Canal after some good campfire time. You’ll bring your bike, we’ll bring the smores.
This mid-paced, social gravel ride will head out from our Brookland shop (716 Monroe NE), pick up folks at our Q St shop (1412 Q St NW), and head to the Capital Crescent trail entrance in Georgetown. Meet us at any of those three spots and join us this weekend for a 22-30 mile round-trip gravel/adventure ride. It is a longer round trip, so please take into consideration your own limits. If you haven’t biked this distance before, please consider joining one of our other, in-town social rides first. Riders returning home on Saturday night should plan to bring a headlight of at least 200 lumens to safely navigate the C&O Canal after sunset.
We’re asking that everyone RSVP for this ride with a $5 ticket purchase. The fee will go directly to campsite and food purchases. Those staying overnight will pay an additional $5 camping fee. **We provide s’mores and some backup food, but plan on packing your own dinner and snacks to share!**
We’ll see you at the campfire!
Where to catch us:
4:30 pm – roll out from Brookland
5:00 pm – Q Street crew rolls out
5:30 pm – Last rendezvous at Capital Crescent Trailhead in Georgetown, quick debrief, & then ride out to Marsden Tract campground (C&O mile 11.5)
8:30/9 pm – Cleanup and break down camp, head back to town*
*Or don’t leave, stay, and camp out!”
