WheelNuts is again starting up its weekly Tuesday hill rides out of Alexandria!:
“Howdie Friends of Wheel Nuts! Let’s get those steeds of steel out of the shed and ride! The Wheel Nuts Shop ride is gearing up for our 13th consecutive season! Starting Tuesday, March 12. Officially the oldest continuous shop ride in the DC Area. Usually we start a bit earlier in the evening for a couple of weeks to catch more day light. But, after receiving feedback from riders who work close to ride time and have long commutes we were asked to start at our regular in-season time and come back a bit earlier to get greater participation. We hear you and we are going to do just that. So folks, be prepared to ride at Belle Haven Marina by 5:45pm and wheels spin at 6pm. Meet in the lot near the bathroom and water fountain. Plenty of free parking and just one mile south of Old Town Alexandria on the GW Parkway. Our rides are open to all fitness/skill levels on a Road or Tribike (no hybrids/mtn). Helmets are mandatory and a rear flasher is strongly recommended. We have 3 to 4 pace groups to satisfy all riders and we are No Drop. We welcome new riders weekly so bring a friend and enjoy a great group of non cliquey, friendly, encouraging cyclists of all ages, body types and about the same number of guys and gals on a typical Tuesday.
