Club Swimming Opportunities

Masters Swim Program 
The DC Triathlon Club is proud to present the Masters Swim Program (MSP) for all of our enthusiastic triathletes! As a club, we have created a coached swim program that is geared specifically toward triathletes. At any given practice, the sets can range from 1,600 to more than 3,000 meters.

  • Mornings at UDC: 
    • When: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
    • Where: UDC Natatorium, Building 47
    • Time: 5:45 AM
  • Evenings at Wilson Pool: 
    • When: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
    • Where: Wilson Aquatic Center
    • Time: 7:00 PM

Evening Swims at CUA 
From Spring through Fall, the DC Tri Club has all 6 lanes of the CUA pool on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:00 pm. The fee is $5 cash for each practice to cover the pool rental. Paul Waas (CUA head swim coach) will be on deck to provide assistance.

The pool is located inside the DuFour Center on John McCormack Road and is convenient to Brookland/CUA Station on the Red Line.

All levels are welcome! Choose a lane according to your speed and ability.

Washington, DC

Eastern Market Pool/Capitol Hill 
Club members regularly meet at the William H. Rumsey Aquatic Center in Eastern Market to swim. The pool is located at 635 North Carolina Avenue, SE and is a short walk from the Eastern Market metro station (Orange and Blue lines). Interested in starting or joining a group? Post your plans on the forum and recruit! The pool at Eastern Market is FREE for DC Residents ($7 for non-residents). ID is required.

East Potomac Pool/Hains Point
The outdoor pool at Hains Point is one of DC Tri Club's favorite summer swim spots!  Many summer days you can find at least one DC Tri Club member at the 50-meter pool. The pool typically opens shortly after Memorial Day and stays open until the early fall.  Check the DC Parks and Rec website for the pool hours and opening schedule.  The pool is located just north of the golf club house and is FREE for DC Residents ($7 non-residents). ID is required.

Wilson Aquatic Center
A wonderful indoor 50M pool is now open and site of our evening Masters Swim Program.  Check out the Masters Swim Program Page to find swim partners or the DC Parks and Rec website for more information. The Wilson Aquatic center is adjacent to Wilson High School, 4551 Fort Drive, NW, just steps from the Tenleytown Metro station on the Red Line. The pool is FREE for DC residents. ID is required.

The DC Triathlon club has members who swim at private fitness clubs and pools in Washington, DC. If you are looking for a swim buddy (or just a reason to make sure you get to the pool!) post your plans on the forum and someone will likely join!

Northern Virginia

Rixse Pool at Chinquapin Recreation Center in Alexandria
Many Alexandria City DC Tri Club residents can be spotted at this 25 meter indoor pool, off King Street next to TC
 Williams, which is open year-round. Current lap swim times are available here. Fees are $8 for residents, $15 for nonresidents. Passes and membership available (see pricing here).

Old Town Outdoor Pool
In the summer the Old Town pool opens is available for outdoor swimming. The pool opens Memorial Day weekend and stays open until Labor Day weekend. Times vary, so check out the schedule on here. Fees are $3 for Alexandria City residents and $5 for non-residents. 

Washington and Lee Aquatic Center in Arlington
This 25 meter x 25 yard pool is located near the Ballston Metro on the Orange line in Arlington. The pool is located on North Quincy Street, behind the Planetarium and Education Center, and is adjacent to Washington and Lee High School. Current lap swim times are available online. The fees for swimming are $5.50 for Arlington County Residents, non-residents $7.75 for daily use. You can purchase 20-punch ticket or monthly memberships (more info here).

Other Public Pools in Arlington County
The Arlington County Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources, Sports and Recreation Division operates three public indoor pools. More information on these pools, their hours and fees, is available on their website.

Fairfax County Pools
The Fairfax County Park Authority operates 9 RECenters with 25 yard and 25 meter indoor pools. The fees for swimming are $8 for Fairfax County Residents and $10.50 for non-residents. Membership passess available. More information, their hours and fees, is available on their website.

Montgomery County, Maryland

Montgomery County Aquatic Center
The Montgomery County Department of Parks and Recreation operates this pool, located at 5900 Executive Boulevard, N. Bethesda, MD 20852. Specific schedule information is available on the Montgomery County Website. Fees are $6 for county resident and $7.50 (weekday)/$8 (weekend) for non-residents. A 12-punch pass is available, as are memberships.
