Kelly made her first foray into triathlon in 2011. She’d swum and run cross country in high school (though not very well) and continued swimming and running for fun and fitness. One day, while riding her bike to work, she realized “Wait a sec, there’s a sport that does all these things in one race- I should try that!” Her parents apparently had a bet going as to how long it would take for her to sign up for a tri.

Nickname: Mickle Pickle (I was like 4…I made a bad tasting sandwich… Thank goodness Facebook wasn’t a thing then!)
Goals for 2017: Qualify for Boston, Cross off a few more states (long term goal: complete a triathlon in every state)
Little known fact about me: Before getting hooked on triathlon, I did a lot of theater and even acted professionally in a few shows.

Favorite Result: IM Arizona 2015. I totally crushed my anticipated time (I cried) and obliterated my expectations on the run (I cried again when my husband showed me my split). It was a supremely fun day. I’ll be honest- I had kind of expected it to turn into a death march by the end, but you gotta trust the training!
Favorite Food: Creme brulee, bread pudding, ice cream (I have a mouth full of sweet teeth :D). After a tough workout: chocolate milk and kettle chips. Normal food? cheese, scallops
Favorite thing when not swimming, biking, or running: Cooking (Eating!)
