What do I get for being a member?
The DC Tri Club is a great community of inclusive athletes to train, race, and socialize outside of triathlon with. DC Tri Club hosts volunteer-led workouts, club races, social events, and race-day get-togethers for members. Please see the club calendar for more details. Members also have access to club-only discount codes from many of our partners (on gear, race registration, training events, etc.). Membership benefits are also described here.
How many people are in the club?
DC Tri Club currently has about 500 members.
I just joined! Now what?
You’ll start receiving our weekly newsletter every Wednesday. The newsletter is the primary mode of club communication where we share details on our upcoming events and weekly workouts. As a member, you are welcome to join and any of all our events! If you haven’t received the newsletter, reach out to [email protected].
Does the club have regular meetings?
The club hosts an optional monthly zoom call for members that includes brief orientation for new members, club updates and ongoings, and a time for members to connect. The club also holds an annual all-member meeting in early December. We have weekly and monthly training events and social activities including happy hours. Details can be found in our weekly newsletter and on the calendar.
Do you have student, part year, summer-only, one-day, etc. memberships?
We do not, due to USAT Club liability insurance reasons. Our annual membership fee is very competitive with other teams and clubs in the region.
Where can I find discount codes?
Our discount codes are available behind our members-only webpage under Partners > Redeem Discounts.
Do you offer any assistance with overcoming barriers to entry?
In our efforts to lower and remove barriers to entry to the DC Triathlon Club and triathlon sport, we are offering a Barrier Breaker!
Programs
Are programs included in my membership fee?
Program participation has a separate fee in addition to the membership fee. The program fee goes to cover coaching, clinics, and various other program benefits. Please visit the specific program page for information on its cost.
Are program fees refundable (if for example, you move out of town during the program year)?
Program fees are non-refundable.

What training opportunities are there?
Information about our weekly training opportunities are available here and on our calendar.
Are the group rides no-drop?
It depends on which group ride (check the ride information for details). The club’s regular weekly Saturday ride is not a no-drop ride. You should bring a cue sheet or have the workout loaded onto a device (i.e., watch or bike computer).
Club Races
Can you I join the Club’s training races if I am not a member?
Unfortunately no, and this is due to USAT Club liability reasons. Club races are members-only. Consider becoming a member to take advantage of Club racing opportunities and the many other benefits.
Club Website Groups
How do I find people in my area to work out with?
There are lots of ways to find nearby training partners in the club, including through our weekly workouts. Our website’s groups section can also be a way to find training partners with similar interests and location availability. https://www.dctriclub.org/groups/; look for an existing training opportunity near you or post one of your own. And don’t forget to check the club calendar which is another resource for training opportunities near you. If you have an interest in starting a new weekly workout for the club in a location that works for you, please email [email protected]. We’re always open to new ideas and suggestions!
Can I start a new group on the website?
Absolutely! We’re a 100% volunteer-led organization and our club members enjoy training, racing, and socializing together. Just reach out to the Director of Community Development and Outreach at [email protected]. Let’s make it happen.
Social Events
How frequently does the Club have social events?
The Club has at least one social event per month. The Community Groups also host their own events.
Where does the Club host social events?
These are mostly held in DC, with some in Arlington, but we’re always looking for more locations that can accommodate groups as large as ours that serve as wide of a region as ours does. Email [email protected] with recommendations!
What types of social events are there?
There are Happy Hours, Member Meetings and group outings to sporting events like DC United.
Club Gear
When can I order gear?
We have large group buys a few times a year, be sure and stay tuned to the newsletter and the website for those. We also keep some gear in stock in our store year round: https://www.dctriclub.org/shop/.
If there’s an item I want not in the store?
You can order it in a group buy.
Volunteering
I’d like to volunteer for the Club. Who do I contact or give my information to?
We’ll often put out calls for volunteers in our newsletter for specific events, such as Club training races, bricnics, member meetings, etc. Most often there will be an indication of whom to contact to volunteer for the specific event.
