Group Description
It is that time of the year. Triathlon race season is winding down and we start to look back over the course of the year. At our races. At the friends we made. At the fun that we have had.
Every year at the club’s Annual Meeting and Party, we give out some fun awards to our members that have been nominated and voted on by their teammates! Put on your thinking cap and reflect back over the year to gather your nominees!
We are now accepting nominations for the following awards for the 2025 year:
- 1) Brady Nelson Memorial* Spirit of DC Tri (someone who cheers everyone on, wears DCTri, etc.; essentially the DC Tri Club mascot)
2) Club Member of the Year (someone who represents the spirit, values and community of DC Tri Club)
3) Courtney Waltimyer Memorial Most Improved Athlete Award (someone whose growth and progress exemplify commitment and perserverance)
4) Rookie of the Year (their first year doing triathlon, jumped in fully, embraced the community, inspired others)
5) Veteran Athlete of the Year (returning athlete who continues to exemplify performance, spirit and mentorship)
6) Volunteer of the Year (someone who consistently gives their energy, time and care to strengthen the club community)
7) Community Champion Award (someone that has made a positive impact in the wider triathlon community, beyond the DC Tri club)
If you would like to nominate someone for one of these categories, please post in this group. Nominees must be current Club members. The nominees will be included on the ballot with the Board of Directors elections Nov 1 – Nov 15 and the winners will be announced at the Annual Meeting on December 7th.
Please submit all nominations by 11:59 pm on Friday, October 31.
We ask that you please nominate people for specific categories. And yes, people can be nominated for multiple categories (though nominating someone for both rookie and veteran might be a bit questionable).
