This ride typically leaves Capitol Hill at 7:10/8:10 AM (summer/winter) from 8th and Penn SE with a pickup in Georgetown behind the bank at Wisconsin and M NW at 7:30/8:30 AM (summer/winter). Rides meet on a week-to-week basis - follow the forum posting to determine if a ride is happening this weekend. All paces welcome!
While this is NOT a no-drop ride, the Middle & Back of Pack (MBOP) Group will provide a no-drop option every first Saturday of the month during the summer. This no-drop option ride will have a sweeper and support paces from 13-17 mph (flats). For those who have never done the Saturday ride, here is a great option to become familiar with the route and to join others of similar paces.
The Middle & Back of Pack (MBOP) Group will also have a seperate ride on the 4th Sunday of each month (more info on the Middle & Back of Pack (MBOP) Community Group page).
Sunday Ride with the Vertical Swimmer
This weekly Sunday ride is perfect for those training for an Ironman, Half Iron, or who just want to ride on Sundays. The group meets in Georgetown (M and Wisconsin next to the bank) and wheels are (usually) up at 7:00 AM. 2016 rides will continue through September. The distance will range between 60-120 miles. The largest group averages 17-19 mph (route is rolling hills) but other pace groups form. Tuan, "The Vertical Swimmer", sends out weekly emails with ride reports and cue sheets (number55555 AT yahoo.com). Find out more on the forum posting.
In the past during good weather months, groups used to meet Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 AM at Hains Point at intersection of Ohio and Buckeye SW for workouts known to build speed and power. If anyone is interested in heading out there and getting this ride going again, post on forum. Also check out the Hains Point training page for some Hains Point specific workouts. All paces welcome!
