Woo hoo! I finished the Half! And, I had so much fun doing it. That is not an exaggeration- I really enjoyed every moment.
Leading up to the weekend I was feeling really calm. My main goal was to finish, and I was 100% confident that I could do it within 8:30 hours (with the exception of some disaster on the bike), so I really felt no pressure at…[Read more]

Hi All,
Great conversation! I am also racing Williamsburg, and I have been feeling more fatigued lately. There are a number of factors involved including the end of school (as a teacher), a different sleep schedule (why get up at 5:00 if I don’t have to?), and completing my workouts later in the morning to acclimate to the humidity. But, I also…[Read more]

Hi Juan.
Thank you so much for the time you spent writing this and sharing it with the group. Williamsburg is my race as well, and I found this so helpful.
Question about the bridge, as I have been trying to find a picture online but can only find the elevation in feet (which I have a hard time visualizing). How would you compare the hill to the…[Read more]

Hi Everyone,
Thank you for the intel on the Eagleman course! I really appreciate it, and while I will likely trek out to Cambridge to try it at some point it seems as though some routes closer to DC are worth checking out first.
After I posted a few days ago, I remembered the Great Pumpkin Ride out in Warrenton. While I haven’t done the official…[Read more]

Hi Everyone,
For my long rides I have been going out MacArthur, using some combination of the Saturday Morning Ride route and my own exploration of Potomac. I enjoy the route, but I am looking to shake things up a bit as my rides get longer. I just found the cue sheet for rides of various distances starting at Riley’s Lock, which will be great.…[Read more]

I had such a great time at Peasantman this weekend. It was a nice measure of my overall progress from last year when I did the sprint as an NTPer and could barely run 3 miles without walking. I was nervous about whether my legs would hold up after my long ride on Saturday, but I felt great the whole time (working at an easy, rather than r…[Read more]

I had the same question as Tina after Peasantman this weekend. Yesterday I checked the Rev3 Williamsburg site and found the answer in last year’s athlete guide. It will be an in-water start (see page 14). Also, if you haven’t already joined, there is a Rev3 Williamsburg Facebook group. There seems to be a supportive mix of Rev3 folks and course…[Read more]

Hi Tina,
A few days ago I got an email from Rev3 with some race information. One of the links within the email was to a race info. sheet from Endurance Nation, which (I learned) is Rev3’s coaching partner.
The following blurb came from this race info. sheet, and it has some tips about the swim and planning for the current and water…[Read more]

Hi Tina,
I recommend looking at Moving Comfort (made by Brooks). I like this brand because the sports bras come in band and cup sizes, and not just S, M,L (etc). Additionally, they allow you to try out anything for 90 days before making a decision if you order through the Brooks site. I think I tried 2-3 different ones last year before settling…[Read more]
