Disc brakes. Connected with Glenn and am going to try new brake pads and chain to see if that does the trick. Thanks everyone for the advice.

    Hi Glenn,

Thanks for the reply. I did attend your session and read the materials. I believe the bike specs are fine for beginner purposes and it fits me well. The main issue is that it makes an ungodly noise when I break and shift gears. I had a guy come out and do a tune up in November and he changed the break pads, but that apparently wasn’t the issue because the problem only got worse. He told me it was a ‘Frankenstein’ bike meaning that it had clearly been in a wreck and had mismatching parts. Basically he said to not put more money into it but that it was perfectly safe. The noise however is unsettling and some of the gears are borderline unusable. I’ll text some photos soon. Very knew and open to any guidance/suggestions. Thanks again!

Hello. I bought a very cheap and used road bike about 6 months ago that I was planning on using for the triathlon in July. I’m getting to the point where I either need to put some work into it to remedy a gear and braking issue, or just upgrade. I’m very new to biking, so I’d love to get some advice on what maintenance my current bike needs or if it’s even worth it to put more money into it. I’d love to be able to chat with someone about it.
