MARK WIGFIELD replied to the topic Joel Friel test in the forum Half Ironman Program (HIP) for Paid Participants 4 years, 3 months ago
Some interesting results:
My biking LT was 4 beats higher than running LT: 153 and 149 respectively
The Joel Friel LT was four points lower than the Garmin watch test I did last year (149 vs. 153)
My Joel Friel results could be affected by the fact that it’s the first time I’ve done these tests.
My run cadence was in the high range during…[Read more]

It’s possible that I’m blind, but I think the duration of the Easy Form Focused Run for Thursday is missing from the instructions. It also suggests “quickly transitioning from the cycling workout,” but there is no accompanying cycling workout. Apologies if I’m being dense.

Although I should add that the watch test I conducted (last fall) was running, not cycling! Will let you know how the running results compare.

The process to program in this simple workout worked fine. I will also report the results: the test found the same lactate threshhold — 153 bpm — as the Garmin test that is native on the watch.

Below is a link to a cool YouTube video on how to create workouts in Training Peaks that you can download to your watch or device, which will then prompt you through the workout. I just successfully did this with the lactate threshold workout! I’ll let you know how it worked out on Hains Point…

MARK WIGFIELD started the topic Garmin non-workout data in the forum Half Ironman Program (HIP) for Paid Participants 4 years, 3 months ago
I’m in the habit of recording my routine, non-training oriented bike rides to the store, pool, gym, etc., etc. as Garmin cycling activities, and because Garmin is synced with Training Peaks, the data is included in Training Peaks. Should I stop doing that? Does such routine activity cloud the fitness picture, or add to it?

MARK WIGFIELD started the topic Training plan in the forum Half Ironman Program (HIP) for Paid Participants 4 years, 3 months ago
The training peaks training plan welcome message was in my inbox this morning, announcing it was starting Monday and presenting the plan. However, how do I verify it’s the correct plan? The plan I’m seeing looks more like the beginner than the intermediate plan. Also, is it still possible to change the plan selection, such as from intermediate t…[Read more]

The URL for the Galloway blog on run-walk doesn’t work for me in the training guide. I found this one, which works. Hopefully it’s the right one:
