Great feedback, Peter! Pleased to hear the kick off meeting and clinics gave you a good foundation to work from. Since you do have experience at the Ironman distance previously, it’s particularly interesting to know that there are good areas of continued potential for you.
That said, I think you hit some of the key areas for the Ironman distance. Everyone toes the starting line with the need fitness. However it is the extras like proper pacing with heart rate zone training, dialing in nutrition, proper warm up, cool down and recovery techniques, etc that will make or break your race success.
