Reply To: Bike Baseline/Threshold Testing

A power meter is absolutely not necessary.  However since power has become so accessible with apps like Zwift, TrainerRoad, etc, we must talk about it.  That said, even those using power indoors, won’t have access to it outdoors unless a power meter is purchased.  So we must talk about it because of this but, particularly at this point in your triathlon career, you would be much better off addressing and optimizing areas like technique and mechanics (optimizing bike cadence and run cadence, smooth pedaling with one legged drills on a trainer, etc) than pushing power.

For the vast majority of you, doing the lactate threshold is key.  So work to have this what you are ready and able to take on.  Good question Justin! Way to plan in advance 🙂
