Thank you, Jason, for doing a deeper dive into the training performance metrics. As you can see, there is a lot to learn here.
That said, as I was uploading training plans, most of you are new to Training Peaks. Thus you don’t have historical data to pull from for CTL (fitness) and TSB (form) so it’s really not productive to be trying to apply these metrics at this point. https://help.trainingpeaks.com/hc/en-us/articles/230903988-Estimate-Starting-Fitness-CTL- is an article to review if you are new to Training Peaks and really feel like you want to take on these metrics. If you have been using Training Peaks with consistent training in the past, these numbers will be more relevant.
Thus, this is why I recommend getting more familiar with heart rate zone training. Heart rate zone training, itself, is a steep learning curve but one that is practical and relevant here and now.
