I generally do something pretty similar to Joseph– mostly focusing on swim/run/strength.
I’ll try to get in the long bike, even if its on a spin bike– that longer endurance stimulus (2.5h+) isn’t something I can get through swim/run without risk of injury. But if it’s just a week, I’ll just take the hit and pick up the following week.
For me, I try to do something new while I’m traveling (based on where I’m going). If there are a lot of good trails, I’ll run trails for a week and get my speedwork through hill sprints. If theres a lake/ocean (or even an outdoor pool), I’ll swim there. Schedule permitting, I often try to drop in on a local run club and be social. Just something to change it up a bit.
