Good morning all,

With this new date being announced, there are several things you do need to consider to be ready to target this rescheduled date.

  1.  Accommodations: As Juene stated, accommodations are going to be challenging so if you see yourself doing this race, it’s worth exploring options now.
  2. Training Schedule: We have already talked about how you can use your current training plan for the new date, ways to build upon it, ways to better perfect ‘how’ you are doing the inner working of the workout to not only be ready but also elevate your performance.  What we did not talk about are those who chose not to continue to train.  This training plan, as well as the training program in general, was never intended to take an athlete from lack of training or conditioning to safely and healthy be ready for a HIM.  As stated on the HIP page on the DC Tri Club’s website, there was an expected level of conditioning to be in place to initiate this program in the first place.  Thus if you chose to start from no conditioning or a limited baseline of conditioning, you will do so at your own risk.  Please listen to your body. Do not do too much too soon.  Follow the ~10% rule as your body allows.
  3. Training Peaks Premium Extension: The DCTC board is working on this.  It’s not as seamless a process as you would think.  Cindy, programs manager, should have an update in the next day or two.

Now it’s back to the drawing board and hope there will be a transition area big enough for this race venue (considering social distancing).  Either way, you have a date to work towards so let’s elevate your training!
