    Reminder!

The fall bricknic is tomorrow (9/21). The group will be clipping in the Thompson boathouse parking lot at 7:30. Please either come and meet the group there, or wait a couple of minutes at the bank for them to get up the hill!  And stick around after the ride for the picnic!

    see you tomorrow!

    7/17 workout

It’s time for hill repeats again. For anyone new hill repeats are always the 3rd Wednesday of the month. As usual we will meet at the Cardozo HS track. Enter the track at 13th and Florida we will meet at the bottom of the bleachers in the NW corner of the track at 6:30 and start warmups at 6:35. After we finish warmups we will lock gear in someone’s car (hopefully someone will drive), then we will easy jog over to Meridian Park. Once we get there we will do hill repeats for 40min. I recommend following around the outside of the whole park except for the very north end where you should cut through the park to avoid stepping into the street. You are welcome to make the workout more challenging by doing stairs instead of hills or make it easier by doing a run walk interval. After 40min we will meet at the SE corner of Meridian Park at 15th and W NW to head back to Cardozo to do 5 min of core and grab gear. There won’t be a safe place to leave bottles at the park so you should be prepared to run with your water. Speaking of water unless it’s a serious storm we will still run. If it’s a downpour or lightning I’ll post a cancellation to the FB group.

Cardozo is just up from the U street metro station. There’s street parking near the track but I don’t know how easy it will be to find parking.

    Hi Barbara,

Yes, the details went out last Wednesday, I just checked and it looked like yours went to an email address with a verizon account. If you still don’t see it, email me at training@dctriclub.org.

Quick answers to your question above:

    -Yes, Friday is arrivals

-Saturday – Clip in is 8am (this means that we LEAVE at 8, so be onsite before that to get set up)

-Route – I’ve polled the group, and we’ll be riding the route for North East Tri, because going to the Diamond in the Rough route would require us to drive about 20 minutes. But the good news is that you’ll be driving right past the course so I am suggesting that people drive the course while there out there.

-Sunday – check out of the campsite is 1pm, it looks like most people will be getting up to run.

I hope this helps, and do shoot me an email if you still can’t find the info. And if anyone else has questions feel free to post!

    See you this weekend!

Thanks for posting this AJ!  I need to do another update to the website, but my day job keeps getting in the way of the fun stuff.

I’m the director of training and these weekends fall under my area, so to answer your questions, yes, the cost covers the campsite rentals (it’s tent camping bring your own tent/find a friend willing to share) – details and sign up for these will go out about 2 or 3 weeks ahead of time. People typically trickle in sometime on Friday afternoon/evening depending on when they get out of work/DC. We typically do a group ride on Saturday morning, and folks can do a brick. Then in the afternoon we’ll do a open water swim. No official clinic, but some in-water watchers.  Sunday is pretty casual, run/ride depending on what people have on their plans.

Food is the one thing that we don’t cover – I’ll have some snacks and will provide firewood if people want to cook together, and I’m also looking for options in the area to go out if that’s what people want.

If you have other questions, let me know it’ll help me make the website better too. Also, I am looking for people to help volunteer for things like sag on the ride/water support etc, so keep that in mind too. It won’t mean you miss all your training, but it’ll help the weekend run smoother.

I hope we get a good group out!

My name is Allison Nordberg and I’m nominating myself for the 2018/2019 Board of Directors.  I stumbled upon DC Tri Club after seeing tri bikes all over my neighborhood during the Nation’s expo. Thanks to Google, I found my way to Nation’s Tri, DC Tri Club and NTP.

I joined DC Tri Club in 2012 and immediately signed up for NTP.  Despite living in DC for several years, NTP finally helped me find my people, and I jumped in with both feet.  After graduating NTP, I returned as a Co-Leader for the 2013 and 2014 seasons to give back to the program and to the club.  I then stepped into the Program Lead role for the 2015 and 2016 seasons and gained a whole new perspective of what it takes to keep the club running smoothly.  In those 4 years, over 700 first-time triathletes register for the program, and I loved meeting many of them and sharing their enthusiasm for a new sport and lifestyle. In addition to my involvement in NTP, I’ve volunteered, participated in most of the programs the club offers, including the new Women for Tri program, and was named Club Member of the Year in 2016.

Even after 5 years with the club, I still have more to pay forward, and that is why I’m asking for your consideration.  I would like to join the board to give back to the club in a new way and help others find their people.
    Allison
