If you’re going to Diamond in the Rough triathlon this weekend and want to lend a hand, or if you have spectators coming with you who you can recruit to help out, we’ll need a few hands on Saturday morning to finish setting up our club tent area. Everything will be staged there today/tonight, but we can’t finish setup until tomorrow morning. Thanks if you’re able to stop by and lend a hand! We look forward to seeing you on the course! Good luck to everyone!

Hey Ed – I’m the “race lead” for this one. Here’s the extent of pre-race planning…

    • I’m arriving Friday mid-day or so and will be setting up the club tent to the south of the transition area, near the finishing chute. I welcome anyone who is there and can come help me set up!!!
    • I’ve booked reservations for dinner at Tidewater Grille. They were difficult to book a large number for. I booked a reservation for 10 at 6:30 pm Friday and another 8 at 6:45. Anyone else who comes in after that can be seated in small groups as they arrive. If I get a lot more than 18 who say they want to come to dinner I can try to add another block or two.
    • Other than that, we definitely appreciate anyone who can volunteer some time Friday afternoon to setup, Saturday morning to get refreshments and other items out and set up, and Saturday afternoon to tear down!

    Hey all,

This is Nik Pleisch. I’d love to return to the board for the next term. I’ve been honored to serve on the board since 2012. I’ve had such an amazing experience as a part of the board in the last 6 years, and hope to continue to serve the club as part of this special group of people.
I started in triathlon about 10 years ago while I was stationed in California with the Air Force. While I left the military shortly after, I continued my triathlon life since. My wife’s military career brought us to DC in 2012 and I sought out the club – not just to be a member, but to join the leadership team. I did my first Ironman in 2011 and wanted to give back to the triathlon community here in DC. The reason I’m still on the board 6 years later is because of the people in this club. We’ve had 3 kids in the last 6 years and triathlons have been scaled back, but I still love the community and want to give back in whatever capacity I’m able to – especially here in DC. That said, my 6-year old did a duathlon AND a triathlon this year and is a future DC Tri Club member!!! Funny how the racing focus shifts when you have kids.

I think my biggest strength is that I love people and want to see people succeed. When people have a goal I want to see them succeed. Our club includes many people who have BIG goals – and I hope to be a resource for them!

Kerry, thanks for the message! Occupancy is 4 people. It’s one of the camping cabins (Four walls, a roof, two sets of bunk-beds with mattresses, a table, four chairs, porch with two rocking chairs, no bathroom, screened windows, four electrical outlets, one lighted ceiling fan, an outside picnic table, a fire ring and a lantern post).
My email address is npleisch@gmail.com. If you want to email me directly I can send you the info I have on it.
