One of my colleagues at UMD is looking for female research participants-please contact him if you’re interested! Details of the study are below:

The School of Public Health at the University of Maryland is currently recruiting endurance trained women for a research study. The purpose of the study is to determine the effect of physical activity on novel markers of cardiovascular disease in highly physically active women.

Interested participants must be non-smokers, between the ages of 18-39, a normal weight for their age (BMI <25 and weight >110 pounds), and perform aerobic exercise where heart rate is elevated for at least 30 minutes on 4 or more days a week. Aerobic exercise includes running, cycling, swimming, and/or rowing.

The study involves 3 visits to our laboratory in the School of Public Health separated by 1 week. The total time commitment is 2.5 hours. Procedures include blood vessel function measurements, a maximal exercise test (vo2max) on a cycle ergometer, and blood draws. We are compensating $50 upon successful completion of the study. Additionally, you will gain information about your blood chemistry profile, body composition, and cardiorespiratory fitness.

If you would like to participate or have more questions, please contact Daniel Shill at dshill@umd.edu.
