New 50-meter lanes at stake. With Hains Pt. shut for now, needed more than ever:
“The Arlington County Board will vote on November 28 to award a contract to one of the four bidders to build our Arlington Aquatics and Fitness Facility.
But there is a vocal contingent in Arlington who is pushing to have the County Board not award a contract at all! Can you believe it!! After all this time!!! Nearly 20 years, and the approval by Arlington voters of two Bond referendums to fully fund the Arlington Aquatics and Fitness Facility years ago, there are still people trying to stop this from happening.

We have waited nearly 20 years and approved two Bond referendums to pay for an Aquatics Facility. I strongly urge you to approve the County Manager’s recommendation to award a contract to build the Long Bridge Park and Aquatics & Fitness Center. Our current pools are over used, do not offer enough pool time for County swimmers, swim teams, and school-based needs which must compete for lane time with recreational needs for swim instruction and general public use. As a parent/swimmer/coach, I’ve seen and experienced how much we need this Aquatics Facility. After 20 years of talk, and twice voting to fund it, we’ve waited long enough. Please approve the County Manager’s recommendation and instruct him to Build Arlington’s Aquatics Facility Now!”
Come on folks!!! We need this facility in our town!!!!
