March 5, 2019 at 11:47 am #25149dsgrunningParticipantHi Jenni,
Join the NTP program, if you are new to the sport.
Sign up for PeasantMan, if you want to meet other club members. Every year, more than 100 DCTri club members attend the PeasantMan training/race weekend at Lake Anna. These people include folks in the NTP, Oly, Half Ironman, and Ironman training programs. There will be zero training/racing events where you will be among more DCTri folks than at PeasantMan. Besides from all the DCTri folks racing, there will be 50+ DCTri folks there to volunteer. Race day is Sunday, but there will be about 100 people who show up on the day before to train/socialize and eat, like a company picnic. Many will rent campspots at the lake for the week, a few will get hotel rooms … so come out 🙂
You can see a video of it from below.

https://legacy.imathlete.com/events/PeasantMan2019100% of the proceeds go to charity. It was founded by club members, like yourself, during a DCTri Happy Hour. 100% of the the people putting on PeasantMan are DCTri club members. As a bonus, the co-RD also lives in Silver Spring, runs in Rock Creek, and is a marathoner, so you may run into him without knowing it 🙂

Anyway, if you see me at any of the NTP sessions or any DCTri events, come talk to me. For name dropping PeasantMan and making it part of your race schedule, I have some free swag for you that will get you properly started on your tri career.

April 30, 2018 at 11:24 am #19664dsgrunningParticipant8:00 AM is usually when people start rolling out every year.
April 29, 2018 at 6:38 pm #19625dsgrunningParticipantJust a reminder: Online registration will close at midnight 4/30/21018. After that, you can register at the HH packet pickup or at Lake Anna, but the prices will be jacked up. Register today to avoid the jacked up prices.
April 15, 2018 at 2:48 pm #18943dsgrunningParticipantHomemade cupcakes at the finish line for all finishers
April 12, 2018 at 12:32 pm #18758dsgrunningParticipantOpen water swim … in case anyone wants to get their yardage in, in an open water environment with kayak and buoy support
April 8, 2018 at 5:15 pm #18180dsgrunningParticipantFYI: If you have not register yet, do it soon. Anyone who register prior to Wednesday, April 11 will have their personal name (or whatever word they want to have) printed on their bibs. Anyone who register after that will just have a number.

Club Member of the Year: No one represents the club better than Ed Moser
Most Improved female: Cindy Hutchings. Qualified for ITU World, won her age group in the Nations tri and a bunch of other races. Her results have been spectacular this year. If there are club members that have reached the podium more times than Cindy this year, that number is probably less than the number of fingers that I have on one hand.
Veteran Athlete of the Year: Kelly Lefler. Not only does she podiums, she volunteers for the club at more atctivies than most, and participate in more DCTri club activities than 95% of the general membership. Qualified for Boston for the first time this year and made the DCTri Club Elite Team. That’s a pretty impressive resume for the year
July 24, 2017 at 2:45 pm #13078dsgrunningParticipantYou can start getting in the TT position about 4 miles from the starting point, once you clear a somewhat hard climb. You’ll know it when you get there. Road is nice, flat, and clear for the next 8-9 miles. You can then turn back and just loop the same road until your hearts contend. Or, you can do the rest of the route. If you can stay 100% in aero for the first 15 miles, you are better than 95% of the club members. If you can stay 100% aero in the big gear for the first 15 miles then you are better than 99% of the club. Same goes for the rest of the route in the below link 🙂
May 30, 2017 at 2:06 pm #12303dsgrunningParticipantI want to say $30 after the PeasantMan discount, but could be $35. Definitely cheaper than $40 since $40 is their regular price.
May 30, 2017 at 11:15 am #12300dsgrunningParticipantGo to Wheel Nuts in Alexandria, name drop PeasantMan … they will rent you a suit with a discount. If you want to purchase a suit from them, they can apply some of that rental fees toward a new wetsuit for you.
